Windows 11 officially requires TPM 2.0, Secure Boot, and a supported CPU generation (Intel 8th-gen+/Ryzen 3000+). Millions of perfectly capable machines fail the check. Both bypass methods below are well-established — with one caveat at the end.
Method 1: Registry bypass (officially tolerated)
Microsoft documents this one themselves. It removes the TPM/CPU check during setup:
:: Run as Administrator, then install via the ISO reg add HKLM\SYSTEM\Setup\MoSetup /v AllowUpgradesWithUnsupportedTPMOrCPU /t REG_DWORD /d 1
- •Download the Windows 11 ISO from Microsoft
- •Mount it, run setup.exe — the requirement check is skipped
- •Still requires TPM 1.2 at minimum for this path — fully TPM-less machines need Method 2
Method 2: Rufus (clean install, full bypass)
- •Download Rufus + the Windows 11 ISO
- •Write the ISO to USB — Rufus offers a checkbox: "Remove requirement for 4GB+ RAM, Secure Boot and TPM 2.0"
- •Optionally check "Remove requirement for an online Microsoft account"
- •Boot the USB and install — no checks, no account nag
The honest caveat
Unsupported installs have received every cumulative update so far, but Microsoft reserves the right to withhold feature updates — historically some unsupported PCs had to clean-install new versions. For a machine that matters, weigh the risk. For a secondary PC, it is a non-issue.
Activation is unaffected
Hardware support status does not affect licensing — a genuine Windows 10/11 Pro key activates normally on bypassed installs.
